Pete’s Dragon (1977)
Pete is a young orphan who has found a unique companion in Elliott, a friendly dragon who can sometimes become invisible. The two make their home in a quiet Maine fishing village, where their presence stirs curiosity and wonder. Nora, a kind lighthouse keeper, along with her father, offers Pete and Elliott shelter. Life in the town presents challenges, especially as Elliott’s playful antics accidentally cause trouble for the townspeople.
When a pair of dishonest salesmen arrive with plans to capture Elliott for profit, Pete faces the urgent task of protecting his friend. Supported by Nora and other locals, including the lighthouse keeper’s father, Pete must navigate the dangers posed by those who see Elliott as a valuable commodity rather than a friend. The story centers on their efforts to keep Elliott safe in the close-knit coastal community.
