‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ is a prequel to Disney’s 2019 photorealistic remake, exploring the origins of Mufasa, the beloved king of the Pride Lands. Told through flashbacks narrated by Rafiki to young Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter, the film follows Mufasa’s journey from an orphaned cub to a leader, shaping the legacy that would one day pass to his son.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film delves into Mufasa’s friendship and rivalry with Taka, the lion who would later become known as Scar.
