Mighty Joe Young (1998)
As a child in Africa, Jill Young witnessed her mother’s heroic effort to protect a group of wild gorillas from poachers led by Andrei Strasser. Now grown, Jill raises an extraordinary gorilla named Joe, who stands 15 feet tall due to a rare genetic trait. When Gregg O’Hara arrives from California and discovers Joe, he suggests relocating the gentle giant to a wildlife refuge for his safety.
Despite their plans to give Joe a secure home, Strasser tracks them to the United States with the goal of capturing Joe for himself. Jill and Gregg must confront this threat while trying to protect the enormous gorilla from those who see him as a prize rather than a living creature.
