Isle of Dogs (2018)

In a Japanese city grappling with a sudden outbreak of canine flu, Mayor Kobayashi orders all dogs to be exiled to Trash Island, a remote garbage dump. Isolated from society, the dogs form a makeshift pack, struggling to survive in the harsh environment. Among them are Chief, Spots, and Rex, each adjusting to this new exile in their own way. Meanwhile, 12-year-old Atari Kobayashi defies the ban, traveling to Trash Island on a small glider to find Spots, his loyal dog who was among those cast out.

Atari’s arrival sets off a daring quest across the island as he navigates the dangers alongside the group of stray dogs. The journey reveals the complicated relationship between humans and their canine companions, while the mayor’s strict policies and the city’s growing unrest provide a tense backdrop. As the dogs and Atari confront both natural and human obstacles, their bond is put to the test in this unusual tale of loyalty and determination.
