Turning Red (2022)

Thirteen-year-old Mei navigates middle school life in Toronto while juggling her friendships, family expectations, and personal interests. Her daily challenges become extraordinary when she discovers that whenever she gets overly excited or stressed, she transforms into a giant red panda. This unexpected change complicates her ability to fit in and maintain her normal routine.

Mei’s relationship with her strict mother adds an extra layer of tension as she tries to keep her unusual condition a secret. Alongside her friends Miriam, Abby, and Priya, Mei searches for ways to manage her transformations while attending school and dealing with typical adolescent ups and downs. The story captures Mei’s struggle to balance her unique family heritage with the pressures of growing up.
