The Great Mouse Detective (1986)

In Victorian London, England, a little mouse girl’s toymaker father is abducted by a peglegged bat. She enlists the aid of Basil of Baker Street, the rodent world’s answer to Sherlock Holmes. The case expands as Basil uncovers the crime’s link to a plot against the Crown itself.

What is Disney hiding from us? Why won’t they show the older open matte 1985 Walt Disney Pictures logo in this bluray and Disney+? Could they not add it as a bonus feature on home media?

why was Disney hiding their old original 1985 open matte Walt Disney Pictures logo while putting the later variants ? This makes no sense. The closest we get the original logo is from the rare original theatrical trailer.

    Hello :-)

I’m French and I love your site. It was useful for me more than once :-D

But something is strange for me. In reality, the picture of the Blu-Ray of “The Great Mouse Detective” has a big problem of contrast as you can see on these pictures :

Why yours are so well-contrasted ? Is it your player which do that ?

    Thanks for your answer ;-)

    Have a nice day :

Hiya! I’m honestly not too sure. I use a Buffalo USB BluRay player that I plug into my computer, and use a program called Handbrake to save the BluRay as a file I can cap. I don’t do anything that I’m aware of to change the contrast or improve the picture – perhaps some of the software does it automatically?

OK. Thank you for your answer ;-)

Interesting this USB Blu-Ray player. I need this ! :-P

I know Handbrake. I use the same program to encode some of my videos :-) Strange for the image ! The Blu-Ray is totally whased-out ^_^

I was looking at all the screen caps and I can tell you still didn’t have the beginning part where Olivia says to her father that it was her very best birthday before he gives her the birthday gift.

And on page 32. you didn’t show the sealed cap rattles as Dawson walks straight into when he and Basil climbs in the pipe, following Fidget to Ratigan’s secret lair.

And on page 33, you didn’t have a screen cap of Ratigan grabbing Basil by his collar before he lifts him up and how he drops him, saying he won.

And one more thing, I can tell on page 38, you didn’t show Basil turning his head when looking up at where the gun and the arrow were shooting at before the axe gets him and Dawson out of Ratigan’s dastardly death trap.

Please email me when you get this message and tell me when you get the pictures that wasn’t shown on this website.

My software takes caps automatically, 2 caps for every second of movie. So some very quick shots can miss being capped, nothing I can do about that, sorry! :)
