In the latest installment, Po (Jack Black) is set to step into a new role as the Valley of Peace’s spiritual leader. His task is to find and train a successor to carry on the mantle of the Dragon Warrior. However, things take a dangerous turn when a shape-shifting sorceress named The Chameleon (Viola Davis) emerges, threatening to resurrect Po’s past enemies, including Tai Lung (Ian McShane). Po must team up with a crafty corsac fox named Zhen (Awkwafina), but trust becomes an issue when Zhen’s true loyalties are revealed. Together, they venture into Juniper City to face The Chameleon, but Po must ultimately decide who to trust and how to stop the powerful villain.

This action-packed adventure introduces new characters while bringing back familiar faces like Master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman), Mr. Ping (James Hong), and Po’s father, Li Shan (Bryan Cranston), blending humor, heart, and stunning martial arts sequences as Po confronts his next great challenge.

Master Oogway always said there are no accidents, but fate still takes unusual directions when Po is around. This is especially true in his youth when he is looking for his calling even as the great menace named Boar is on the rampage. After Po inadvertently sickens Master Shifu, the young and unsure Tigress is charged with finding four warriors to help her fight Boar, only to confuse Po’s wishlist for his calling for her own list. In doing so, Tigress sets on a journey that would hardly be what Shifu intended. However, her quest leads to her future best friends who would become more than that they dreamed they could be even as they help Tigress find her own path that would help a certain giant panda as well.

But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it’s up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. Can he turn his dreams of becoming a Kung Fu master into reality? Po puts his heart – and his girth – into the task, and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weaknesses turn out to be his greatest strengths.

Once there, Po tells the story of how that trio began as small time street fighters until the villainous Wu Sisters escape with plans to conquer China. Against this threat, Master Oogway convinces the selfish trio to accompany him on a quest to stop the sisters. In the challenges that follow, those masters find that the grandiose promises of riches they heard are fading as they learn that there are things far more worthy to fight for.

Burdened by his father’s imposed guilt about his conflicting responsibilities, Po finds all the preparations a dispiriting struggle. However, the solution comes from where he least expects it even as the panda must decide who truly needs him more on the big night.
